Liverpool FC and Chevrolet Tackle Road Safety

If you are looking for a safe small car you could not do better than look at the Chevrolet Aveo or Chevrolet Spark. Consider a Chevrolet Spark road test or a Chevrolet Aveo road test.

Two of Chevrolet's small cars are big winners in the safety stakes. The Chevrolet Aveo achieved the maximum 5 Star EuroNCAP rating and the Chevrolet Spark was very close behind with an overall 4 Star rating.

Chevrolet are car sponsors for Liverpool Football Club (LFC) and together they worked with Merseyside Police in a recent initiative to improve safety amongst young drivers. They particularly focused their attentions on the Under-21 team as statistics show that young male drivers aged 17-21 are seven times more likely to have an accident than male drivers overall. Amazingly in this age group the risk of accident between 2am and 5am is seventeen times higher.

Safety Tips

Amongst other safety advice, Chevrolet was keen to emphasise its five top car buying tips for young people:

  • Safety: look for air bags, anti-lock brakes and seat belt pre-tensioners-ideally opt for a car with a four or five star EuroNCAP safety rating
  • Fuel Economy: a real plus point and often makes for a less racey and therefore safer car
  • Approved buy: get a mechanical check on a vehicle if buying a used car-ensure brakes, tyres and other crucial features meet safety standards
  • Costs: consider all costs when buying a car, not just the purchase price. Consider insurance costs, tax, service costs, fuel consumption etc. Again a cheaper car to run is often a safer car
  • Little cars, big appeal
