As voted by Motoring.co.uk
The Motoring.co.uk Criteria
The website compared both Kia cars within a specific criteria set by experts at motoring.co.uk. The criteria included the most popular 20 diesel hatchbacks sold over the last few years to ensure that all cars included on the list are the type of cars many of us may be driving as part of our everyday lives.
They also factored in the price of the car. Motoring.co.uk worked out the average price paid with cars scoring more points for being lower-priced with the more expensive cars receiving less points.
From Price to Load Space and Safety
Motoring.co.uk is a source for people to obtain transparent reviews and a host of information on a huge range of cars with website users able to rate any car on their website. With this in mind the website looked at the user ratings for each of the cars on the list. The diesel hatchbacks with high user rankings received greater scores than those which had low user ratings.
The amount of space that each of the diesel hatchbacks have was also considered with the vehicles that had a larger load space ranking higher.
All the diesel hatchbacks featured in this received a five star N-CAP rating but motoring.co.uk also factored in that some of the cars perform better for pedestrian and passenger safety than others.
Running costs was also a factor in how the motoring.co.uk panel voted with MPG, road tax and insurance group being a significant factor into how each car ranked.
The final part of the criteria set by motoring.co.uk for their top 10 diesel hatchbacks was the brand. They looked at the wider perception of each car by how desirable they were to the general public.

"The Cee'd launched seven years ago and is now into its second generation car. Despite it not being as reasonably priced compared to rivals, it still comes with the seven year, 100,000 mile warranty. Improvements have seen a better quality interior finish, larger boot than its rivals the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf and generous standard equipment." (Motoring.co.uk)

"Time to party... the Kia Rio has claimed the ‘Best Sub-100g/km Business Car’ title in the Business Car Manager Best Business Car Awards. Would you like a sausage on a stick to celebrate? Pineapple and cheese, perhaps? To be precise, the Rio 1.1 CRDi EcoDynamics trim took the honours, although every Rio has low emissions." (Motoring.co.uk)
