With a 282-mile range, 64kWh battery pack and 201bhp electric motor, the Kia e-Niro is exactly what electric motoring should be: powerful and efficient, without making you sweat over range and charging stations. Still, it’s good to know the e-Niro can replenish its batteries from 0 to 80% in 54 minutes at a 100Kw DC station. It’s also good to know it’s jam-packed with useful technologies like Smart Cruise Control, Lane Following Assist, Smart Regenerative Braking and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist. And then there’s the plush leather seats, JBL Premium Sound System, Smart Key & Button Start and 8” touchscreen and 7” Supervision cluster display. So many features, all fitted as standard.
The e-Niro is special, so it stands out with blue highlights, exclusive 17” alloy wheels and a closed front grille to separate it from the pack. It looks great, and the interior is equally endearing with technology to enjoy and leather seats to melt into.
Silence is the word; refinement is the result. The e-Niro is as quiet as a mouse pootling around and feels incredibly energetic thanks to 291 lb-ft of torque and 201bhp - with that power available at any speed, instantly.
Here’s a surprise - the e-Niro has a bigger boot than the Niro Hybrid! There’s 451-litres of boot space which is seriously impressive for an EV. There’s also more than enough space for five passengers and ISOFIX on both rear outermost seats.
Living with it
With no gearchanges, instant performance and super-low running costs, the e-Niro is a dream to own. It’s such a leap forward you really have to drive it to believe it. And yes, it still has Kia’s world-famous 7-year warranty to back it up.
