This is Kia’s first ever PHEV that features a standout design, along with advanced technologies and features.
The All-New Optima PHEV offers the striking exterior design and high quality interior of the recently introduced Optima Saloon, with the added practicality and appeal of electric/hybrid propulsion and significantly lower CO2 levels.
The interior is comfortable with an innovative and functional cabin that is well- appointed with a contemporary theme. Similar to the regular Optima Saloon, the Optima PHEV utilises more soft-touch materials throughout the passenger compartment than the previous generation Optima.
The All-New Optima PHEV combines a 154bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine utilising the Atkinson cycle principle with a 50kW (66bhp) electric motor powered by a 9.8kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack. The electric motor replaces the torque converter in the smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission. When working together, the combustion engine and motor generate 202bhp (combined) and 375Nm of torque.
The new body, with the increased application of high-strength steel alloys, plays a major part in raising refinement levels. With a more rigid frame and stiffer body panels and engine mounts, the All-New Optima successfully reduces the level of vibration through the cabin. 83 per cent stiffer alloy wheels further cut vibrations resulting from contact with poor road surfaces.
